In the beginning of his career, John Sr. spent 12 years in retail grocery operations with First National Stores. His roles there included: head grocery buyer, corporate frozen food merchandiser, grocery buyer, and retail operations. After this John Sr. joined Barclay, Brown & Jones food brokerage for two years where he gained sales management experience in private label sales. In 1976, John Sr. left Barclay, Brown, & Jones food brokerage and created his own company, j.m. Overton Sales & Marketing where he continues to add value today.
